http://www.slideshare.net/JakeNavarro/looking-back-at-your-prelim-task-what-do-you-feel-you-have-learnt-in-the-progression-from-it-to-the-full-product

This powerpoint shows my progression using all the skills and magazine knowledge i have learnt since making my prelim magazine front cover to making my magazine front cover, contents and DPS.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? - Evaluation 6

I have learned a lot during the process of creating my music magazine such as how to use photoshop effectively to produce a professional magazine. I have learned how to use the majority of tools to develop a magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread. These tools allowed me to do a variety of different thinks to produce my magazine whether it was adding text, creating a background, editing an image or merging two images together and much more.

I also have learned how to use canon cameras efficiently and effectively including how to use rule of thirds to produce an image suitable for a magazine front cover, magazine contents and magazine DPS. This has allowed me to produce some high quality professional images that suit the intended purpose. Rule of thirds has helped me to produce images that are positioned accurately and effectively.

Another technology that i have used that has helped the process of creating my music magazine was the apple mac computers as they have aloud me to upload the photos i have produced and also use photoshop to edit images also to use the tools to build my magazine they have also aloud me to update my blog to show the process of creating my magazine and also to research music magazines to see what content they should consist of and which conventions they should follow.

Overall i think i have learned a lot since creating my prelim magazine that has aloud me to produce a magazine front cover, contents page and DPS spread to a good standard i have used a variety of different technologies during this process to aid my work but without the different technologies i wouldn't of achieved a successful magazine.

How did you attract/address your audience? - Evaluation 5

My media products address's the audience with the use of many different techniques including layout of the magazine which follows the typical 'Metal Hammer' layout. Another technique my media products use is house style of the magazine as the dark colours show the magazine is aimed at metal fans, this suggests that the audience is a metal audience because the colours red, white and black are associated with this genre.

Another technique that is used in my magazine is the bands that are included in my articles as these bands are famous in the metal scene and will attract a wider variety of fans. My magazine also attracts the audience through the use of large text which stands out and draws the audience in. Another technique is with the use of large images that are eye catchy to the audience. Another technique is with the use of a pull quote which draws the reader in and makes them want to read more.
Overall my magazine uses a variety of different techniques to catch the audiences attention mainly using big bands as that is the content the audience immediately wants to see as these big bands is the purpose the audience wants this product.

Who would be the audience for your media product? - Evaluation 4

My target audience will be metal fans aged 16-25. I have chosen this age group because from my research i have found that Metal Hammer targets working class adults so there is a big gap in the market for teens and young adults. I also have an advantage as i am a teenager who is interested in this genre so i know what content and articles this age group would find eye catchy.

There is only one contender with my magazine which is Kerrang  which focuses on all sub genres where as AMPLIFIED focuses mainly on Heavy Metal bands. My audience allows me to create a magazine unlike any other as the target market allows me to adapt other music magazine styles targeting teens into my own magazine as well as using other metal magazines as my inspiration.

The audience for this magazine will be easier to target as the style of the magazine has to be less formal than other music magazines because of the genre. They are also easier to attract due to the lack of competition as there are only two contenders where as a music magazine like Q who have several different competitors.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? - Evaluation 3

The type of institution that will produce my magazine will be a company that produces metal music and other metal content. For my magazine i have chosen a company called TeamRock as they produce my style model 'Metal Hammer' therefore i think this company has a pre existing fan base which will allow my magazine to target the intended audience and other audiences who are interested in TeamRock content. I think this institution has the potential to make AMPLIFIED a successful magazine in the metal genre along side Metal Hammer.
The company also has a web sight that produces online articles that focus on the same bands my magazine does for this reason i think this institution should distribute my magazine as they already have experience targeting this type of audience. I also think they would be good distributers because they distribute 'Metal Hammer' which would allow the two magazines to synergy s instead of competing.

How does your media product represent particular social groups? - Evaluation 2

My media products represent the social group of metal fans called metal heads. I have targeted them using mise en scene as it clearly shows the genre through props, clothing and body language. The format of my magazine also represents the metalhead social group through the use of colour schemes, backgrounds and conventions that only apply to a metal magazine.

My magazine represents this social group as laid back music lovers with attitude. It does this with the use of language and images which show attitude and passion for the genre. The social group is presented like this in my magazine because the genre is famous for attitude and rule breaking.
Overall my magazine represents the audience and genre as bad ass music lovers who love to party and listen to heavy metal music.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? - Evaluation 1

My media products use conventions typical of a metal magazine. The way i have managed format my magazine is by keeping the structure and amount content the same as the style models as shown above. I used these style models to format my magazine so its set out like a previously existing magazine. My front cover follows the format of a 'Metal Hammer' magazine where as my contents page follows the format also of a 'Metal Hammer' magazine. My double page spread follows the format also of a 'metal Hammer' magazine except unlike my other media products it does not strictly follow the layout just the general content. The amount of content in my media products is about the same as my style models but set out slightly different in comparison to them.
