Prelim Contents Page-Adding Text

 The next step is to add text to the page to inform which page contains which story this allows the reader to locate the articles they want to read.

To add text you use the text tool which allows the text to be resized and the style to be changed to a more suitable style for the genre of magazine.

Prelim Magazine Contents Page-Editing The Background

The first step of editing my content page is to layer from background which follows the same steps as layering from background on my magazine front cover.

The next step is to blur the background as this will enable the text to stand out rather then be disorientated by the background.

To carry out this task the blur tool is used this allows the background to be blurred so the main image is the focus of the page without actually cutting the background out.

The next step is to insert text this is done by using the text tool. This allows you to edit the size font and colour. I used a larger font for the mast head as this stands out this allows the title to stand out to the audience. The main article is in a smaller font as it is not as important a the masthead.

The next step is to fill the background in using the bucket tool. I used a dark red as it follows the colour scheme of my school. Filling the background allows the text to be clear as it does not disorientate the text as it is one colour.

The next step is to create a new layer so that it will enable me to add a colour to the background.

The third step in editing my main image is to remove the background as this enables more space to insert text and also allows the text to be clear compared to the text potentially being unclear due to the background disorienting the text.

Prelim Magazine Front Cover - First Layer And Cropping

The first step of editing my main image for my prelim school magazine is to layer it from background which allows other layers to be seen behind the image.






the second step is to crop the image using rule of thirds to ensure the image has enough room to fit text into on the front cover also to decrease the amount of space wasted.

My magazine cover photos

 The second image i took is okay but to central for the front cover of my school magazine i could edit this photo by cropping the right side of this image and removing the background to the left which will leave space to fit text.







This was the first photo i took using rule of thirds i think this photo would be suitable for my school magazine front cover if i can crop the image slightly and remove the background using photo shop.

 This image could be improved by cropping the image on the left side and removing and cropping the right side of the image.

 I think this image does not allow enough space to fit text into for a the main image of a front cover so i will not be using this image.

I think this picture is to similar to the last image and is not suitable for a main image of a front cover.

 I do not think this image is good enough for a main image as theres to much space and the prop is the wrong way around which would reflect badly on the school.

I think this image has potential to be a good main image for the front cover of a magazine if it is edited. I also think this has potential to be a good cover photo.

Mise en scene

Location - I have chosen outside our sixth form building as the location for my shot as this clearly resembles the Oldershaw academy.

Actors - I have chosen Jordan to be my single actor as the shot I have decided to take infers that we have musical talent. Jordan shows this as he can play a musical instrument. Jordan will be dressed smart to infer that our academy is elegant.

Camera Shot – The shot I have decided to use is a low angled medium close up as this shows power which resembles our school as powerful.

Costumes – The costume Jordan will be wearing smart business wear.

 Props – The prop I have decided to use in the shot is a guitar as this infers that our academy is musically talented.

Narrative – The story I am inferring through this picture is that the school is musically talented and smart also that the students are happy to attend.
